Joanna Mamede, Diana Herzog

Joanna Mamede is a Brazilian artist and director based in the UK. Her work explores notions of difference, language and identity using symbolism and motifs. Experimenting with text, graphics and narrative codes, her films and installations exist beyond genres to reveal spaces between them and the structures that support them. Selected exhibitions and screenings of her work include: Aesthetica Film Festival, Future Now Symposium, Videobardo, Mientras Tanto Cine, Gstaadfilm, Berlin Revolution, Rich Mix, Depford X and Tate Modern. She holds an MA in Art: Moving Image from Central Saint Martins, where her research 'Transbordo: O Medo da Outra Palavra' examines how women artists use text on screen to deconstruct languages and systems of oppression. She is also a board member of Lux Moving Image in the UK and is part of ICCG, Instituto Gilberto Chateaubriand in Brazil.

Diana Herzog holds a degree in Theatre Theory from UNIRIO. In 2015, she founded the artistic group Yonis Magníficas and performed 3 shows: "Nora", PORQUÊ??? and "Mãe de Ninguém".
