Marianna Milhorat is an American-Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal. Her work has been shown at festivals and galleries around the world, including the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Whitechapel Gallery, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Curtocircuíto International Film Festival, Kassel Dokfest, Videonale, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and the Finlandia Foundation National. Milhorat’s films examine ecology through human and non-human relationships. Taking broad approaches to non-fiction filmmaking, her work challenges form and aesthetics to provoke new ways of seeing and thinking about the current geological era and to create a more fluid and evolving image of nature. She is an assistant professor at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Film at Concordia University in Montreal.
