Pioneering filmmaker Su Friedrich has written, directed, photographed, and edited more than 25 original independent films. Her work has been the subject of 23 retrospectives, including at the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Rotterdam Film Festival, the National Film Theater in London, and the First Tokyo Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Friedrich’s films are in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Royal Film Archive of Belgium, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
