At the turn of the millennium, readers of a Brazilian film magazine exchange letters with each other. In them, they share news about eagerly awaited films, as well as venting and confessions. They also have the habit of collecting printed photographs of their favorite stars. Little by little, the desires awakened by the cinematic images reveal themselves between the lines.

Silvino Mendonca
Silvino Mendonça is a visual artist, filmmaker and graphic designer. His work addresses the different visual typologies of public space and its social, political and cultural intersections through photographs, videos, printed publications and installations. He holds a master's degree in Visual Arts from the University of Brasília. He directed the short films Cine Ruínas (2016), Carona 47 (2017), Paisagem em Chamas (2023) and A sua imagem na minha caixa de correio (2024). He has held solo exhibitions in Brasília and participated in group exhibitions in São Paulo, Los Angeles, Berlin and Tokyo, among other cities. In 2012, he founded the independent publisher Savant, which produces and distributes low-circulation printed publications, such as zines and photobooks. He currently lives and works in Brasília.
