Cinema Orchestra -
Paula Otero, Marcelo Conti and Taiyo Omura
The Cine Orquestra is a project by Taiyo Omura, who coordinates and leads the creation of cine concerts - screenings of silent films - with music, sound effects, effects and performance interventions created live through Soundpainting and other improvisation systems guided by gestures. With over 15 cine concerts already performed, the Cine Orquestra always seeks a face-to-face encounter with films that are almost a century old, but presented and activated with live creation, by a “wild” improvisation orchestra. The orchestra is made up of several musicians, both professional and amateur, with different backgrounds: from classical studies to carnival groups, from traditional symphonic instruments such as the violin, to synthesizers and unusual instruments such as the fiddle and the Indian tabla. This mix of styles, schools and cultures evokes the cultural melting pot that is Brazilian music, in its most plural character, unafraid to experiment.
