Aida Harika Yanomami, Edmar Tokorino Yanomami, Roseane Yariana Yanomami
Aida Harika and Edmar Tokorino are two Yanomami filmmakers who live in the village of Watorikɨ, Demini, Yanomami Indigenous Land, located in the Brazilian Amazon. Both filmmakers are part of the Yanomami communicators collective created in 2018 by the Hutukara Yanomami Association with the support of the Socio-Environmental Institute (ISA). With the aim of strengthening Hutukara's communication and developing strategies to strengthen traditional knowledge among young people, whose interest in cell phones and non-indigenous technologies is growing, a group of 6 young people from three regions of the Yanomami IT - Watorikɨ, Missão Catrimani and Novo Demini - was created to receive audiovisual training. Since 2021, Aida and Edmar have participated in several workshops where they have produced audio bulletins, photographs, videos made with cell phones and short films. “Thuë pihi kuuwi - Uma Uma Mulher Pensando” and “Yuri u xëatima thë - A Pesca com Timbó” are their first short films, which they jointly directed and edited. Roseane Yariana Yanomami was part of the first group of young people chosen by the board of the Hutukara Yanomami Association to participate in audiovisual training workshops in 2018. She lives in the Buriti village, in the Demini region, and is the daughter of Joseca Mokahesi, an artist internationally recognized for his drawings.
