Lycanthropy is an essay on the atonement of the werewolf figure, a creature molded as a scapegoat to outline cruel acts perpetrated by humanity throughout history. Narrated by the moon over the course of one night, different allusions to the werewolf are embodied by a wolf, a woman and a man. Combining fiction and documentary, the film is composed as a collage of different types of images: 16 mm, internet, engravings, literary excerpts and anonymous testimonies.
The werewolf, a hybrid being, operates by moving around the limits of reality and invention, of lies and truth, of the history of stories: it is an amalgam that merges the human and the animal into a single image, operating as an accessible bridge to investigate civilizing processes of domination throughout history.
