THE LONG JOURNEY OF THE YELLOW BUS

Film
Feature Film
For this monumental film, Bressane used his works and edited them in an order that initially follows historical chronology, but then begins to move backwards and forwards. The various pasts – the 60s, 80s, 2000s – are commented on in order to shed light on Bressane’s themes and obsessions, which become increasingly evident and, finally, an entire idea of cinema is revealed to the curious and patient viewer. Will Bressane, from now on, rework The Long Journey of the Yellow Bus when he makes another film? Is this his last beginning? Selection of the Rotterdam Film Festival 2023.

Julio Bressane, Rodrigo Lima
Júlio BRESSANE directed his first feature film in 1967, emerging as an important figure in Brazilian marginal cinema. He founded the production company Belair Filmes in 1970 together with Rogério Sganzerla. Bressane's poetic and essayistic work is among the most exemplary of Brazilian experimental cinema, focusing especially on the relationship between image and soundtrack. He received the Bastone Bianco Award for Nietzsche's Days in Turin (2001) at the Venice Film Festival. In 2008, he received the honorary Eduardo Abelin trophy at the Gramado Film Festival. Sentimental Education (2013) premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and was nominated for the Golden Leopard. Rodrigo LIMA works primarily as an editor. He began working with Júlio Bressane in 2006 when he edited Cleopatra (2007) and has since been the editor of all of his films. The Mirror (2015), his first feature film as a director, had its world premiere in Locarno. He is co-director of The Long Journey of the Yellow Bus (2023).
