Shanthal is an experimental filmmaker, artist, writer, and sound designer who works on whatever makes her curious. Her work explores themes of mental health, human-computer interaction, language, changing landscapes, empathy, food, and joy. Recently, she has been interested in experimenting with analog film formats. She grew up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and identifies as an islander. She holds a BA in Culture and Media from The New School and an MFA in Film/Video from the California Institute of the Arts.
