Fibonacci Made Me Hardcore is a film set on the dance floor; a place of celebration, freedom, expression, performance, meditation, encounter.
A place that houses sacred events - connections, revelations, love stories, ecstasy. Unconstrained by etiquette and propriety, the dance floor allows us to act without explanation.
The dance floor in Fibonacci is occupied by an eclectic group of dancers, models and actors, each with their own relationship to dance, performance and music. The cast of this film is very dear to us, as they are made up of our friends, people with whom we have shared these moments. Throughout the film, we discover their unique style, unabashed dance moves and relentless aspiration to express, but also the anxieties they experience before giving themselves completely to an uninhibited dance. The viewer watches as they attempt to perform the deliberate act of forgetting themselves; the artificial induction of a trance.
Throughout the film, we can observe this trance state appearing and disappearing in individuals, which begins to affect a part of the group and then the entire group. The group of individuals becomes a living organism, evolving with each interaction.
The camera, although often invasively frontal to the subject, is treated as if it were a fly on the wall. Giving the impression that every corner of the party is being watched closely. This omnipresence captures the moments that are usually not told; the moment of hesitation before making eye contact, the moment of misunderstanding that leads to a glance averted.
Fibonacci Made Me Hardcore is a film that bears witness to these constant exchanges; between anxiety and trance, between one dancer and another, between the group and the music, between subject and observer.

Marie Meyer, Patric Kuo

Patric Kuo and Marie MEYER have screened their debut film at the 3537 cultural centre in the Marais in Paris. “Fibonacci Made Me Hardcore” is a 22-minute psychedelic choreographic documentary that follows the energetic exchanges of thirty dancers from the USA, France, Scotland, Ukraine, Israel and Australia. Self-produced, written, directed and edited, with an original score by Eugene Ward, the film explores the euphoria but also the anxieties that we all encounter when trying to let ourselves go in an uninhibited dance.
