São Paulo, 2018. A 16mm family film of unknown origin is found by chance. Its content is disturbing, full of images that refer to a distant place in time and space, but say a lot about Brazilian reality. Moved by its impact, we decided to investigate the origins of this material, which turned out to be a document marked by acute conflicts over the historical and political context of South Africa in the 1960s.

Janaina Nagata
Janaína Nagata is an artist and researcher. In 2016, she began exploring manual intervention processes in film. Her work has been part of group exhibitions in several countries. She has held artistic residencies at the Centre d'Art i Creació Ses Voltes, in Palma de Mallorca; at the Shangyuan Art Museum, in Beijing; and at the Centro Cultural São Paulo. She won the 22nd Visualidade Nascente/USP Award. She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts, a master's degree and is currently studying for a doctorate in Visual Arts at ECA/USP.
