A loving and still gestating world, the future chaos at rest, asleep. Yggdrasil, the tree of life. Microcosms. Dough in a bowl. A living crown. Oleander hyacinth blowing a dandelion, particles of an interplanetary lullaby.

Jodie Mack

Jodie Mack is an experimental animator who received her MFA in film, video and new media from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007. Combining the techniques and formal structures of abstract/absolute animation with film genres, her hand-drawn films use collage to explore the relationship between graphic cinema and narrative, the tension between form and meaning. Whether musical documentary or strobe archive, her films study domestic and recycled materials to illuminate the shared elements between artistic abstraction and mass-produced graphic design. The works unleash the kinetic energy of forgotten and wasted objects and question the role of decoration in everyday life.
