Film

Short Film

"The ocean is the only way to reach Monte Analog. Through each wave, which bursts into each of the primary colors, a portal opens to a new perception... That of an ocean as deep, dark, and as difficult to access as climbing the highest mountain. To the top where the sixth sun can be seen."

First piece in a series of short films for the Sixth Sun project. Inspired by the pre-Hispanic myth of the Sixth Sun.

This chapter is inspired by René Daumal's book “Monte Analog”

Luis Macias

Luis Macias is an artist, filmmaker and composer of moving images. His works deal with the formal and spectral properties of the moving image, through the exploration of the cinematographic device itself and the photochemical nature of the medium. Focused on experimental and procedural practices of analog imaging, his works in Super 8, 16mm, 35mm and/or video formats are composed for projection, performance or installation.

His films and expanded cinema pieces have been shown at prestigious film, art and music festivals, as well as art centers, museums and alternative spaces around the world.

He has been part of group exhibitions and has had one solo exhibition so far. He has collaborated with several artists, musicians and filmmakers to create collective works.

Co-founder and active member of CRATER-Lab, an independent artist-run analog cinema laboratory.

In parallel, he develops theoretical and practical workshops specialized in different variants of experimental cinema in art centers and/or art film schools such as EQZE. Luis alternates his artistic work with specialized teaching in experimental cinema and the exploration of analogue moving images.
