Filmed primarily in the peripheral areas of the ever-expanding Laem Chabang port in Chon Buri, Thailand, Notes from the Periphery interrogates notions of territoriality, globalized networks, and ownership through the fragmented relationships of affected locals and nearby communities, shipping containers that become a tool of policing, and the life cycle of a barnacle.

Tulapop Saenjaroen

Tulapop Saenjaroen is an artist and filmmaker currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. His recent works interrogate the correlations between image production and subjectivity production, as well as the paradoxes that intertwine control and freedom in late capitalism. Combining narrative and essay film genres, he investigates themes such as tourism, self-care, and free labor through the remaking and reinterpretation of produced images and their networks. CalArts.
