Darks Miranda, Pedro França

DARKS MIRANDA
Autofiction and the embodiment of uncontrollable dark and comical forces, Darks Miranda is a slapstick entity of darkness who balances fruit on her head, haunted by her ancestors - all of dubious and varied origins. She springs from the mute rubble of modernity, without any swing, and slides through the layers of mud accumulated in the concrete over time.
She has participated in exhibitions and group shows in spaces such as Galeria Ibeu, Galeria Cavalo, Galeria Jaqueline Martins, Galeria Athena, Paço Imperial (RJ), Casa França-Brasil, MAR - Museu de Arte do Rio, Archive Kabinett (Berlin), Filmhuis Cavia (Amsterdam) and Tate Modern (London). In 2018, she was a scholarship holder of the training program "Any direction outside the center", from EAV Parque Lage. In 2019, she held her first solo exhibition, “mulher gosta”, at Galeria Cândido Portinari (UERJ). In the same year, she received a scholarship from the Imersões poéticas program at Escola sem sítio and participated in the group show “Quando o perigo fica em duas patas”, curated by Cadu, Marcelo Campos and Pollyana Quintela. In 2020, she was selected for the exhibition Abre Alas at Galeria A Gentil Carioca, curated by Keyna Eleison, Pablo Léon de la Barra and Yhuri Cruz. Also in 2020, she was invited to produce a commissioned work for Instituto Moreira Salles, together with the “Convida” program, and produced the work Ibiritaquera Pedra Fantasma in collaboration with Pedro França, curated by the aarea platform and at the invitation of The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. She is currently a resident of the FAAP Artistic Residency, in São Paulo. PEDRO FRANÇA
