The ghost of Iracema sets out on her quest through the forks in the Amazon to find Curupira and avenge her future. Curupira and the Machine of Destiny films the reality of Brazil in 2021 and the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest, transformed into cattle, timber and soy. It is a portrait of history - and the History of Brazil - in the face of supposed progress.

Janaina Wagner

Janaina Wagner (São Paulo, Brazil) works with cinema, photography, set design, drawing, video and installations, researching the relationships of limit, control and containment that humanity establishes with the world. Currently pursuing a PhD at Le Fresnoy-Studio National des Arts Contemporains (FR), Wagner has participated in several residencies, such as Gasworks (EN), FID Campus - Marseille International Film Festival (FR), Bolsa Pampulha (BR), Festival Mondes Possibles - Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers (FR), Casa Tomada (BR), W139 (NL) and NES Skagaströnd (IS). Janaina lives and works between Paris and São Paulo.
