Performance

Short Film

Vérnix performs the collapse of the capitalist urban body. An exhausted and infected body that goes beyond the limits of language, manifesting itself in animal impulses. In the film, seven performers face repressed animalities enhanced by the confinement and isolation of the pandemic. In a life-death-life continuum, natures mix, blurring the boundaries between humans and non-humans.
The film, a creation of the Criação Kamikaze collective, directed by Renata de Lélis, was filmed completely remotely. Each actor-dancer recorded themselves alone, and the images were captured using different cell phones. The layered editing also includes medical archive material. The anatomy of the bodies is exposed, giving an analytical and scientific tone to the work.
