Neither Natal, Nor Parnamirim is an image research project composed of two diptych videos that simulate the routes of two bus lines that connect the conurbated cities of Natal and Parnamirim (RN). An investigation and excerpt of urban life digitized in images, an appropriation and compilation of images from Google Street View and YouTube.
The routes are organized in layers of space, time and image, on one side the perspective of the camera car (Google Street View) that photographs the cities from a supposedly neutral and elevated point of view, which echoes the experiments of the first cinema, in which the camera was positioned on top of cars, trams and trains, recording the urban life of European metropolises for the world. On the other, the images of vloggers, amateurs, cameramen and passers-by who archive their lives at all times, while at the same time recording their experience with the city for virtual and collective sharing on the internet (YouTube).
Nem Natal, Nem Parnamirim is based on the projection and the bet on this collectivity, whether from the simulacrum of a public transport that echoes a common point of view of all of us passengers, or even from the simulation of a continuous daily life, made in the montage of images that represent spaces and an anachronistic time that organizes the history between the two cities.
