Ken Jacobs

Ken Jacobs (born May 25, 1933) is an American experimental filmmaker. He is the director of (1969, USA), which was inducted into the National Film Registry in 2007. He coined the term paracinema in the early 1970s, referring to film experiences provided by means outside of standard film technology. He was an influential teacher of Art Spiegelman, a former student of Hans Hoffman's painting, and in 1969 with Larry Gottheim founded the Film Department at Harpur College (now Binghamton University), providing art education and critical thinking tools to students until his retirement in 2003 as a distinguished professor of film. He lives in New York City.
