Tantão is a visual artist, painter and musician from São Gonçalo. Trained in classical violin, he worked as a draftsman in shipyards while becoming a subcultural pop star as the keyboardist for Brazilian underground sensation Black Future. The band quickly disbanded and Tantão has since pursued a varied solo career in art and music, a timeless and idiosyncratic fixture in Rio de Janeiro’s art and underground scene. The film follows Tantão as he wanders through the nocturnal metropolis, watching him create and interrupt, take drugs, go on tangents and tantrums and, time and again, perform his music. Selection for the 2018 Berlinale.
