María Villar
María Villar was born 4.10.1980 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Graduated in acting from U.N.A (National University of Art).
In theater she acts in many plays with directors as Romina Paula, Agustina Muñoz, Alberto Ajaka and Javier Daulte.
In film she acted in The Stolen Man, Everyone Lies, Rosalinda, Viola (a performance for which she received the best actress award from the jury of the Bafici 2013 international competition and the best actress award from the Latin American Film Festival of La Plata – Fesaalp-), The Princess of France, Hermia&Helena, Isabella (for which she received the award for best performance at the 2020 Mar del Plata film festival) and Tu me abrasas, all films directed by Matías Piñeiro.
Nocturnal Music and The Feverish Look, both directed by Rafael Filipelli.
What I love most directed by Delfina Castagnino, (performance for which she received the award for best actress awarded by the jury of the Bafici 2010 international competition). The Match Seller and An Andantino by Alejo Moguillansky. The flower and Die Kunst der Farbe by Mariano Llinás. Breathe by Javier Palleiro. Flipper and Last Resort directed by Matías Szulanski.
A day cut short is her first short as a filmmaker and won the Special Jury Award Bafici 2025.
